Financial Commitment |
Typical Yearly Fees
We try very hard to manage the Scouts Funds and we are proud to say that we have not had to change our fees for many years. Our Scouts still enjoy all the activities they want; we offer ample opportunity for fundraising; we very rarely, if ever, have "additional fees" except for Summer Camp and High Adventure Treks.
As of Jan. 1, 2008, here are the fees for a new Scout:
- Recharter Fees ($20): due every October
- Annual Fees ($85) due in January of each year.
- One-Time "Initiation" Fee to help defray the costs of purchasing new Troop equipment for New Scouts (tents, patrol mess kits, etc.)
- Special Events, Summer Camps, etc. may require additional fees.

Fundraisers
We have several "fixed" fundraisers every year. Some earn money for the individual scout who participates and others earn money for the whole Troop so that we can keep our fees reasonable.
- Garage Sale: Every year (typically in October), the Troop sets up and runs a garage sale for the Briargrove Park Neighborhood. The Troop charges a fee for the rental of the space and for any tables or clothing racks that they request. The Scouts sell concessions and assist with loading and unloading of items. All Scouts are required to work a shift at the sale and the proceeds are put into the General Troop Funds.
- Magazine Sale: We have an agreement with QSP for magazine sales. Scouts encourage their friends, family, and others to purchase or renew subscriptions. When they do, they can enter the name of the Scout to credit the sale to and the scout will receive a portion of the proceeds. These funds are deposited directly into an account set up for the Scout.
- Newsletter Delivery: At 5 different times each year, the Troop distributes newsletters to all the residents in the Briargrove Park Subdivision. Routes are already laid out and two scouts typically split one route. This usually takes about 60 to 90 minutes to complete and earns the scout $20 for his account.
We have also had car washes, honey sales, plant and mulch sales, and many other opportunities for the scout to earn his way.
