Events and Activities |
Welcome!
Being outdoors is a core part of Scouting. Through various outdoor activities, young men learn not only about nature and the world around them, but about teamwork, inter-personal skills, and how to take care of themselves.
We offer a variety of activities that are limited only by the Scouts' willingness. We have weekend camping trips every month except for December and July (because of Winter Camp/Holidays and Summer Camp). Some of the past trips have included
- Canoeing
- Backpacking
- Fishing
- Rock Climbing
- Tubing
- White Water Rafting
- Nature Studies

Summer Excitement!
For Summer Camp, we try to alternate with an in-state/in-district Summer Camp one year, and an out-of-state Summer Camp the next. We have gone to Summer Camps in New Mexico, Colorado, Arkansas, and even to New York State!

High Adventure
As Scouts advance in Ranks, we try to offer them a more advanced program and camping experience. These outings are called High Adventure and usually have age and/or rank requirements in order to attend. The Advanced Scouts have been very fortunate and have been able to attend Philmont (a 10 day backpacking trek through the mountains of northern New Mexico) for 6 of the past 10 years. Philmont is the crown jewel in the scouting program and anyone who has been involved with Scouting for very long has heard about Philmont.
Philmont is a vast area of wilderness that has many small 'camps' that the boys trek to. Each of these camps tries to offer a different set of activities or theme. There is rock climbing, a horse and cattle ranch, fishing lodge, mining camp, homestead, pole climbing, and lots and lots of nature!
In those years that we are not able to get to Philmont (or even those years that we have more Scouts wanting high adventure than are able to go to Philmont), we try to offer other alternatives. There have been treks across the Continental Divide to see the headwaters of the Colorado river, adventures along the Buffalo River in Arkansas, and canoeing through peaceful lakes in the Addirondaks.
